Skullcandy XTfree - First Look

October 19, 2015

On 1 Oct, Skullcandy announced the launch of the XTfree earphones, joining the ranks of an increasingly popular market segment - that of the sports wireless in-ears.

What's the Big Deal?

1. Price Point
For USD 99.99, this is quite a decent price for a sports wireless model and it places the Skullcandy at a similar pricing to the Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 (SGD 139).

2. Weight
At 16g, this is undeniably light and comparable to similar products like the Jaybird X2 Wireless (13g) and Jabra Sport Coach Wireless (16g).

3. TripleLock Tech
To unscramble the marketing jargon, Skullcandy talks about three areas which help to keep the earbuds in place. First is the FitFin, the rubber piece that sticks out, which supposedly adapts to any ear curve. Second is StickyGels, 'a unique blend of silicone that grips the ears 30% better than regular gels'. Third is something called 'Fix', though there was not much info on this one.

Pricing
Yup, we already mentioned this was a reasonable price. We're now checking what is the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) in Singapore.

Availability
They are available from 1 Oct in the US at the Skullcandy websiteWe are checking with One Futureworld, the local distributor for Singapore availability.

Where To Buy
If you like the product, do support us by purchasing from Amazon via our affiliate links - Black Swirl / Navy / Light Gray. They sell from USD 74.
